About Us
Meet Emma, the founder of Kid Scribe. While pursuing my doctorate in occupational therapy, I gained an in-depth understanding of child development and the critical role handwriting plays in academic success and overall brain development. Observing a growing reliance on technology in education, I identified a need to support children, parents, educators, and occupational therapists in enhancing children’s handwriting skills to prepare them for a lifetime of success.
Handwriting is more than just putting pen to paper—it builds fine motor skills, strengthens neural connections, and fosters cognitive development. Through evidence-based methods, like the Handwriting Without Tears® curriculum, I specialize in making handwriting accessible, effective, and engaging for children of all abilities. As a certified handwriting specialist, I focus on tailored, age-appropriate strategies that meet each child where they are, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Our sessions also incorporate Brain Gym® exercises, which promote brain-body integration by crossing the midline and improving focus, coordination, and learning readiness. These simple yet powerful movements are grounded in research, helping children unlock the skills needed for effective handwriting and beyond.
Before founding Kid Scribe, I worked as a nutrition educator, empowering families with cooking skills to promote health and well-being. This experience has carried over into my work with families in educational settings, providing tools and strategies to create an environment where children thrive.
At Kid Scribe, we believe in partnering with families and educators to foster a whole-child approach to handwriting. By combining my expertise in occupational therapy, child development, and evidence-based techniques, I’m committed to making handwriting a joyful and achievable skill for every child. Together, let’s help your child succeed - one writing stroke at a time!
